The short version

I'm Samuel McHargue — Sam to most people, S.L. McHargue on the masthead. I'm a Tax Associate at KPMG in Anchorage, Alaska, currently working toward my CPA.

I started my first business at 17 — crypto mining rigs, then YouTube, then an e-commerce operation. I graduated from California Baptist University with a degree in Finance and a minor in Real Estate. The thread connecting all of it: I can't stop tinkering with new technology and figuring out how it applies to real work.

This site and the newsletter are where I share what I learn. I test AI tools against professional accounting and finance tasks, publish original benchmark data, and write about what's actually useful versus what's just hype. Everything here is free. I'm not trying to build a business — I'm trying to build something useful.
